The Vietnamese Tet Festival in February welcomed 2003 as the Year of the Ram.
The Tet Festival is coordinated by the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations
of Southern California and marks the Vietnamese New Year and beginning of Spring.
It is the most popular and single-most celebrated holiday in many Asian cultures,
particularly within the Vietnamese and Chinese communities. The Office on Aging
participated in Senior Day of Wellness, sponsored by St. Joseph Hospital's and
attended by nearly 800 seniors. The event hosted vendors, lectures, and health
screenings for seniors and persons with disabilities. Jack LaLanne, served
as the featured speaker and talked about the importance of physical activity and
fitness for seniors. The InfoVan will soon be at sites that distribute food to
the Hispanic, Korean, and Vietnamese communities. This outreach opportunity was
made available through collaboration with the Community Action Partnership of
Orange County. To find out how you can schedule the InfoVan at your next community
event please call (800) 510-2020 or visit our web site at www.officeonaging.ocgov.com.
