As Orange County's leader for senior services and programs, the County of Orange,
Office on Aging supports the efforts of Speakers on Older Adult Realities, better
known as the SOAR Network. Formed in 2001, SOAR is a speaker's bureau that presents
an opportunity to build relationships and connect seniors, caregivers, local businesses,
service organizations and civic groups with knowledgeable speakers from various
organizations. SOAR's mission is to educate and empower individuals to
enhance the quality of life for older adults. The speakers illustrate combined
talents, training and expertise and are all willing to speak to organizations
at no cost. SOAR topics include: Humor, Healing, and Happiness, Nutrition
and Food Safety for Seniors, Choosing Supplemental Insurance, Aging as a Spiritual
Journey, How to Communicate with your Doctor, Helping Your Aging Parent, and Leaving
Life with Dignity. The Office on Aging, which provides services and information
regarding resources to nearly 400,000 seniors throughout the county, is dedicated
to improving the lives of older adults living in Orange County. For more information
