OC Master Plan on Aging's Conclusion

The OC MPA, operating under the “OC Cares” banner, represents a significant five-year strategic undertaking. The OC MPA is deeply aligned with the County’s overarching mission of fostering a secure, healthy, and fulfilling environment for all residents in OC. It aims to proactively address the evolving needs of OC’s growing older adult population and the individuals who provide their care.

The development of this plan benefited from community input through the OC Older Adult Needs Assessment surveys, made possible by the collaborative efforts of many community partners and local agencies. These efforts ensured inclusion of diverse community perspectives including hard to reach populations not previously captured and allowed for subgroup comparisons. This plan is not merely a County initiative; it represents a unified community call to action. Its success hinges on continuous cooperation among public agencies, non-profit entities, the private sector, and the broader community.

This commitment aims to cultivate an OC where its inhabitants can be supported through coordinated efforts so they can age with grace, security, and vigor. The plan envisions a future where older adults and their caregivers can continue to benefit from living in OC and flourish within a healthy, independent, and high-quality living environment.

Next Steps

The County will organize collaborative opportunities for subject matter experts, both internally and with outside stakeholder, to gather input on projects for all three of the priority initiatives. The CEO will oversee the implementation of the three initiatives within the OC MPA, responsible for coordinating activities, monitoring progress, and securing consistent funding through the OC SFP. The execution of the OC MPA is anticipated to lead to improved services, strengthened resources, and a more streamlined and integrated approach to assisting the aging population, ultimately elevating the well-being and life quality for OC’s older adults and their caregivers.
